Value

I don't know about you, but I look for value when I make a purchase. If it's a big purchase, I especially look for value! One day, for whatever reason, I decided to sit down and think about what value actually meant for me. Being mathematically minded, it won't surprise anyone that I came up with an equation.

The first thing I notice are all the different factors that define value; it's not a simple equation. But, it is clear that expected lifetime or years of service is an enormous factor! Also, additional cost and maintenance expense can be offset by providing additional productivity or benefit. There is undoubtedly an emotional factor associated with value that is impossible to include in an equation, but this is a good way to begin a value comparison!
